AMERICA PRAYS FOR THE NATION
A. M. E. CONNECTIONAL DAY OF PRAYER
THURSDAY, APRIL 13, 2017
The 2017 AME Connectional Day of Prayer (hereinafter "CDP") is set for April 13, 2017 as always. We are excited for this time of fervent prayer throughout our Zion. As a tribute to the legacy of Bishop Sarah Francis Davis, we continue this prayer event in her honor.
Below are a few select activities previously conducted in past years.
- Call a Solemn Assembly in the local Church of the Stewards, Trustees and Class Leaders to fast and pray perhaps three (3) to seven (7) days prior to April 13.
- Conduct a Prayer Revival by inviting people to speak or preach on any aspect of prayer.
- Worship in prayer through a Prayer Concert.
- Hold a Tent Prayer Meeting in local parks inviting the community to pray.
- Hold a special Communion Service for the CDP.
Last year, there were prayers and Scriptures read regarding topics such as Black Live Matters; forgiveness; draught stricken areas and flooding around the world; world peace; Haiti’s restoration, justice, jobs and much more.
God has given the AME Church this year, a vision to enact PRAYER WALKS to every State Capitol possible. The walks will commence at 10:00 o’clock am in each respective time zone on April 13, 2017. We will focus our prayers on reconciliation and liberation in the United States and around the world. This year the AME Church is praying that this will not only happen in the Fifth District but in every Episcopal District of the AME Church. If they are unable to pray at the Capitols of their states, they would choose to enlist Intercessors to go to their local City Hall or Police Stations simply to pray peacefully.
Our annual CDP Conference Call for this year is set for 5:30pm EDST and 2:30pm PDST on Thursday, April 13, 2017. Please join us by dialing 646.787.8324.
Persistent prayer works. We must be intentional in every effort of prayer. The greatest undiscovered area in the resources of God is the place of prayer. Prayer is as vast as God because He is behind it. (Leonard Ravenhill)
