Illinois State Senator - 22nd District

This year, I am working on initiatives to help Illinois community colleges buy local, to help disabled veterans afford their homes, and to protect taxpayers from excessive corporate tax breaks.

Senate Bill 2929-Allows Illinois community colleges to buy American-made products, even when they cost slightly more than foreign-made goods, helping support American manufacturers and American jobs.

Illinois Government's Biggest Challenges

Crafting a balanced, responsible budget remains our greatest challenge. Pensions and Medicaid, two of our largest spending growth areas, necessitate cuts in other important state services. Negotiations are underway exploring compassionate ways to cut Medicaid while still ensuring medical assistance to the very poor-particularly children, the elderly, and people with disabilities. Work is also underway to reduce pension spending while upholding our constitutional duty to pay for current state workers' retirements.

Watch a video of my response to the governor's Budget Address here.

Community Job Fair

Representative Keith Farnham and I are hosting a community job fair at the Centre of Elgin, 100 Symphony Way on July 19th. The job fair will be from 11:00 am - 3:30 pm. If you are interested in attending the job fair or have any questions, please contact my district office at 847-214-8864.

If you have any questions, concerns, or ideas related to state government, please send me an email or call my office.

Sincerely,

District Office
